Russian Icon Requests a Re-Vote

Former Premier, Mikhail Gorbachev, called for an annulment of Russia’s parliament election results stating that the overall results do not represent the will of the Russian people.

Russians took the streets all over the country in protest due to suspected voter rigging and ballot box stuffing, as well as other irregularities.  More than 200 protesters were arrested in Moscow yesterday, and another 100 were taken into custody in St. Petersburg.  Opposition leaders and international observers are also calling foul with regard to the nation’s elections.

U.S. Secretary of State Clinton said that Russia’s Tuesdays elections were neither fair nor free, and the results raised “serious concerns.”
